The last two blogs I have posted were both video blogs. I hope to do more of these in the future and will try to work out the sound issues that have been present in both of my previous videos. I am also going to keep them to 10 minutes or less. In part to the fact that YouTube will no longer allow you to upload a video that is more than 10 minutes!

What would you like to see me video blog about? Is there something in Greenville you want to know more about? Something real estate related? Some technology that I might know about? Just let me know!

Swamp Rabbit Trail

For the first time in a few months I decided to hop back on my bike and go riding. I live off Cleveland Ave so it's very easy for me to pick up the Swamp Rabbit Trail at the Cleveland Street YMCA. It rode from one end to the other and back, a total of 8.32 miles! That might sound like a lot but this is really an easy trail. Starting over on my end you ride beside of the Reedy River which remains fairly flat until you get to McDaniel Ave. At McDaniel the trail goes under the street, circles back around onto the street to cross the river, and then continues on. From that point until you get to Academy the trail is mostly up hill. You will need to pay attention to the signs once you get into Falls Park and pay attention to the walkers. The trail through this area is narrow and steep, most people are walking so you will go at a crawl. Once you get under the Main Street bridge it will open up a bit but watch out for "Waders" at The Lazy Goat! Cross River Street and you are back on flat land! The rest of the trail is flat and quiet. You will be riding beside of the river and near the site of the new Crock Center.

For now the trail ends at Willard Street but will soon continue all the way to Travelers Rest, through the Furman University Campus! Have fun and becareful! It's a great trail for bikers and walkers. Most of the 4.16 miles has a rubberized side that is great for running! Click here for a map of the system!

I guess I need to formally announce that I have started a new blog! :-) A few of my friends have said "I didn't know you had a blog until this week" and the truth is, I didnt have a blog until this week! @MissDestructo, a friend of mine from Twitter, has a blog and does a great job with it (www.MissDestructo.com). After reading her blog and number of others I decided I would give it a shot! I am trying really hard to blog at least once a day and soon I hope to have the site put together half as well as her site is!

If you have any advice please let me know... don't forget to SUBSCRIBE!

Good News & Bad News.... The good news is that is NOT lung cancer! The bad news is that it IS COPD. Below is a discription of COPD taken from the Mayo Clinics website.

Definition

By Mayo Clinic staff

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) refers to a group of lung diseases that block airflow and make it increasingly difficult for you to breathe.

Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are the two main conditions that make up COPD, but COPD can also refer to damage caused by chronic asthmatic bronchitis. In all cases, damage to your airways eventually interferes with the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your lungs.

COPD is a leading cause of death and illness worldwide. Most COPD is caused by long-term smoking and can be prevented by not smoking or quitting soon after you start. Damage to your lungs can't be reversed, so treatment focuses on controlling symptoms and minimizing further damage.

The doctor told her to stay away from smokers and he would see her back soon. I will keep you informed! Thanks for all of your support.

It's 10:46am EST and I am waiting to hear from my mom. This waiting is killing me! I am can only imagine how she feels. I have a closing today at noon. One of the closings that has been put off and put off.... Good thing I am friends w/ the buyer because I am not feeling it today. I am obviously going to the closing, even though my client will not be there, but I am wearing "business golf casual" today. Which consist of nice shorts and a polo shirt.

Hopefully we will know something soon. And hopefully it will be good news. I will let you know when I know!

So tonight I found out news that could be life changing for me and my family and is life changing for hundreds of thousands a year. My mom called me this evening and informed me that her doctor thinks she has lung cancer. They ran a CT Scan and performed chest x-rays on her today, will do lab work in the morning and we should know something by tomorrow afternoon. Because my mom has smoked this is something I have always feared would happen. My uncle on my dads side is currently in hospice dying of lung issues related to his smoking. Ironically mom my moved to Arizona earlier this year and quit smoking. After that she started coughing up black flem in the mornings and having chest pain but told no one. She waited until yesterday to tell me that she was having test today. After her x-rays her doctor told her that it was most likely lung cancer and she will know for sure tomorrow. The doctor told her that a lot of people who have lung cancer and smoke never know. Apparently the nicotine causes the pain to be less noticeable. Only after someone quits smoking do they start to feel the pain. I never knew this.

Keep her in your thoughts and prayers tonight. Hopefully the doctor was wrong and it is something minor, we will know for sure tomorrow.
